Become a Member
Having at least $5 in your basic savings account establishes your membership in the credit union and makes you an owner. A minimum balance of $5.00 is required at all times to take advantage of the services this credit union offers. That money is available to lend to members who need it, which is part of what makes us a not-for-profit financial cooperative.
Apart from your membership share, Soo Co-op Credit Union can serve anyone as long as they satisfy at least one of these requirements:
-
Persons whose residence, employment, place of religious worship, own real estate, or who are attending school in the State of Michigan.
-
Any immediate relatives of current Soo Co-op Credit Union Members.
- Once you’re a member, you can remain a member, no matter where you live.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
