What is Mobile Deposit?
Mobile Deposit is a secure online service that allows you to scan paper checks from your phone and electronically send the images to Soo Co-op Credit Union for deposit into your Soo Co-op Credit Union account.
How do I know if Mobile Deposit is right for me?
Any personal or business account holder who receives paper checks can benefit from Mobile Deposit. It’s quicker, safer, and easier than making a trip to the Credit Union. Plus, you can deposit checks even if you’re not located near a branch.
What accounts are eligible for Mobile Deposit?
Personal and Business accounts that have been open for six months are eligible for Mobile Deposit. Approval is at the discretion of Soo Co-op Credit Union, which reserves the right to revoke access to Mobile Deposit without prior notification.
How do I enroll in Mobile Deposit?
Eligible accounts will automatically be enrolled.
What fees are charged to use Mobile Deposit services?
Account holders enjoy free access to mobile deposits.
How much does it cost to use the Mobile Deposit App?
There is no fee to install the Soo Co-op Credit Union Mobile Banking App. However, standard wireless carrier data and charges apply, so please make sure you understand the terms of your mobile agreement before using the Mobile Mobile Deposit App.
Do I have to purchase special software or hardware to use Mobile Deposit?
In order to use the Services, you must obtain and maintain, at your expense, compatible hardware and software as specified by the Credit Union from time to time. Current hardware and software specifications: iPhone or Android device with the newest (or close to the newest) operating system. Credit Union is not responsible for any third-party software you may need to use the Services. Any such software is accepted by you as is and is subject to the terms and conditions of the software agreement you enter into directly with the third-party software provider at the time of download and installation.
What are the minimum system requirements necessary to use Mobile Deposit?
Current hardware and software specifications: An iPhone or Android device with the newest (or close to the newest) operating system.
How do I access Mobile Deposit?
Members enrolled in Mobile Deposit can use the service by logging into their Soo Co-op Credit Union Mobile Banking App and choosing Mobile Deposit from the available options. Then select Choose Account for a list of available shares to deposit; in the next section, enter the amount to be deposited; take a photo of the front and back of the check; lastly, select Submit to begin enjoying the convenience of Mobile Deposit.
What types of checks can be scanned for deposit?
Only single-party domestic checks made payable to the owner(s) of the account may be scanned for deposit with Mobile Deposit. The following is a list of unacceptable items that may not be scanned and deposited with Mobile Deposit:
- Checks payable to any person or entity other than the person or entity that owns the account that the check is being deposited into
- Checks containing an alteration on the front of the check or item, or which you know or suspect, or should know or suspect, are fraudulent or otherwise not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn
- Checks payable jointly unless deposited into an account in the name of all payees
- Checks previously converted to a substitute check, as defined in Reg. CC
- Checks are drawn on a financial institution located outside the United States
- Checks that are remotely created checks, as defined in Reg. CC
- Checks not payable in United States currency
- Checks dated more than six months prior to the date of deposit
- Checks or items prohibited by Credit Union’s current procedures relating to the Services or which are otherwise not acceptable under the terms of your Credit Union account\
- Checks payable on sight or payable through Drafts, as defined in Reg. CC
- Checks with any endorsement on the back other than that specified in this agreement
- Checks that have previously been submitted through the Service or through a remote deposit capture service offered at any other financial institution
- Checks or items that are drawn or otherwise issued by the U.S. Treasury Department
- Checks that are prohibited by the Credit Union’s current Membership Agreement with you
- Checks that are in violation of any federal or state law, rule, or regulation
- Checks purporting to be a lottery or prize-winning
How should I endorse checks that I submit through Mobile Deposit?
Endorse the back of each check submitted through Mobile Deposit with:
- The payee’s signature
- The words “For Mobile Deposit Only, Soo Co-op Credit Union Acct # __________
PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not endorsed correctly, Soo Co-op Credit Union reserves the right to reject the check for deposit.
Once my check is endorsed, how do I complete a deposit via Mobile Deposit?
Mobile Deposit is quick, easy, and convenient. In 6 simple steps, you can make deposits without visiting a branch or mailing a deposit!
- Log into your Soo Co-op Credit Union Mobile Banking App.
- Select Mobile Deposit from the available options.
- Select Choose Account for a list of available shares to deposit.
- Enter the Amount to Deposit.
- Take a photo of the front and back of the check.
- Review the details of your deposit and select Submit. Once your deposit has been accepted by the Credit Union, you will receive an email.
When will my deposit be credited to my account?
Deposits made between 3:00 am and 6:00 pm are typically processed the same day. Deposits made outside of these hours will be processed the following day. Some deposits may require manual review, which can extend the processing time. Do I need to include a deposit slip with my scanned check deposit?
No. The Mobile Deposit program generates an electronic record for Soo Co-op Credit Union with each deposit.
How many checks can be included in one deposit? Can multiple deposits be submitted each day?
The total physical number of checks cannot exceed 5 per day or 20 per week, and the total number of checks cannot exceed 40 per 30 consecutive calendar day period.
How much is the deposit limit?
The per-check limit is $2,500.00; the current daily dollar limit is $5,000.00 per business day. In addition, the current monthly dollar limit is $10,000.00 in any 30 consecutive calendar day period.
For what types of accounts can I use Mobile Deposit?
Mobile Deposits can be made to a personal or business checking, savings, or money market account.
Can I deposit to multiple account types during the same session log-on?
Currently, you can only make a deposit into one account type during each session. Once the deposit has been credited to your account, you can log back into the Mobile Baking App and complete a transfer to the account type of your choosing.
What should I do with the check once it has been scanned?
Please store your check(s) in a safe place for 45 days from the date of your deposit. In the event of a deposit dispute, Soo Co-op Credit Union may require the presentation of the original check to settle the dispute. After 45 days, destroy the check using a secure data destruction method (i.e., shredding).
